Who we can help

The principle object of the SEBF continues to be the relief of cases of need or distress among former Members of the Stock Exchange and their dependents.

The Trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Benevolent Fund’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities and setting grant making policy for the year.

The fund carries out these objectives by providing grants to individuals in need, to prevent or relieve poverty in the form of:

  • Annuities on a one or two year basis
  • Donations to those requiring temporary help
  • Disregard payments
  • Emergency grants for one – off payments such as motor repairs, and replacement of everyday equipment
  • Providing debt and money management advice to those supported by the fund
  • Giving extra help to those that are sick or with disabilities, such as medical equipment and carers.
  • Applicants are treated on an individual basis depending on their needs and requirements.

How to apply

First, please read the Rules of The SEBF which give precise detail on the scope and extent of the support we can provide.

Applications are considered quarterly and generally need to be made two months ahead of each committee meeting (see Meetings Calendar). This action will allow the Secretary time to visit the applicant and submit his report to the Committee.

Once you are confident that you are eligible to apply for assistance, please print and complete our application form which can be downloaded below.
