Our application process

The principle object of the SEBF continues to be the relief of cases of need, distress or poverty among former Members of the Stock Exchange and their dependents.

The Trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Benevolent Fund’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities and setting grant making policy for the year.

Initial application

Your application begins here. You may also contact us by phone or write to us with this information.

We will send you an application form to complete, either by email or post. The questions we ask at this stage require detailed information about your financial, personal, living and health situation. We sometimes ask for additional information if it's helpful to us. The Fund has a rigorous data protection protocol in place.

Personal assessment

The Secretary will visit you and discuss your current situation and your needs. We normally like to see you in your home to get a good understanding of your circumstances. Your case will be prepared and will be presented to the Committee which meets quarterly. The Secretary is able to make emergency grants if required.

Case review

The Committee agrees the outcome of all cases.

Ongoing support

If a grant is provided we keep in touch to make sure that you are getting the help you need and update your case if your personal circumstances change.

If your application is unsuccessful, we try to refer you to other agencies or charities that may be able to help.
